defects in classical

A deformacion caused by a point in a crystal may be roughly divided in two parts- a core and a deformation field which is slowly decreasing at long distances. the latter changes the lattice periodicity nagligibly and is responsibible for elasticity interaction between defects.

Owing to the strong dependence of interatomic forces on distance the core is restricted in a range of first coordinate spheres. as has been point out by lifshitz this allows us to perform a theore analysis of lattice vibrations without using the perturbation theory. in fact lisfhitz method may be easily generalized to a wide class of band quasiparticles. the main attetion is paid at that to three main problems:
- the effect of defects on the band frequencies and eigenvectors corresponding to then.
- investigation of local states split off the band spectru and quasilocal states inside the band.
- change of thermodynamic and kinetic charactesitic of the body caused by the presence of the defect.
